Bruce Baschuk

Principal

Bruce Baschuk is a Principal and one of the founders of J Street Commercial.

Bruce has been active in the Washington, DC metropolitan area’s dynamic real estate market for more than 35 years. He was one of the top agents in the region working for CBRE and then Barnes Morris & Pardoe, before he assumed responsibility as the managing director of the Washington, DC office of CBRE. He was also responsible for the Corporate Services business in the Washington Region for CBRE. Bruce co-founded J Street Development in 2004 and purchased the Randall Hagner Companies in 2007. In 2008, The J Street Companies merged with Woodmark Commercial Services and in 2011, the J Street Companies moved forward with full capabilities under one name.

Under Bruce’s direction, J Street has acquired dozens of properties exceeding 5 acres in the DC market for future retail, office and residential development, which it then either entitled, built and/or sold.  He is active in every aspect of development including acquisition, planning, entitlement, construction, marketing and securing debt and equity for each property.  

Bruce was the former president of Jubilee Enterprises, an organization that has redeveloped more than 1,300 residential units in Southeast Washington, DC. He is also the founder of WINNERS Lacrosse, a non-profit inner-city organization which mentors boys and girls in Washington, DC. He is a former President of The Washington DC Board of Realtors and has been awarded the Donald C. Rosinski award for his contributions to the community. He is the co-founder and former Chairman of the NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) and served on the Board of LISC, a national non-profit community investor. Bruce chaired the Georgetown BID and is a member of the Federal City Council. Bruce and his wife Kate, a teacher, live in Chevy Chase, Maryland and have four children and eight grandchildren.
